The Geography Oasis

About

For Teachers

The Geography Oasis is a library of interactive, self-marking Geography activities for IGCSE and GCSE classrooms. Every activity runs in the browser, needs no installation, and gives students immediate feedback so lesson time goes further.

What's inside

  • 2 full units live — Population (7 modules) and Development (5 modules), with more on the way.
  • 140+ activities across vocabulary, case studies, data, comparison and consolidation.
  • Retrieval Practice Zone — 360 multiple-choice questions across 12 modules, playable in 8 different game modes (Classic Quiz, Speed Round, Flashcard Flip, and more).
  • Three tries free per module so students can explore before any purchase.

How it maps to the specification

Each module mirrors a single IGCSE / GCSE topic. Modules open with a short written intro (the Module Intro activity) that identifies the learning objectives, then work through:

  • Vocabulary — Vocab Sort & Vocab Grid for key terms
  • Conceptual understanding — sorts, classifiers, matchers, dilemmas
  • Data skills — dashboards, data detectives, comparison tools
  • Assessment practice — Answer Improver, quick quizzes, noughts & crosses
  • Consolidation — Decision-Making Exercise case studies (Japan’s ageing crisis, Mexico’s migration to the USA, Nepal’s development)

How it's designed

Activities are built on principles from evidence-led pedagogy:

  • Retrieval practice — students actively recall rather than re-read.
  • Immediate feedback — wrong answers correct on the spot, never stored as misconceptions.
  • Dual coding — information is paired with diagrams, icons and illustrated scenes.
  • Low-stakes play — game modes (Double or Nothing, Streak Challenge) keep repetition engaging.

For use in your classroom

Every activity works on a projector for whole-class starters / plenaries, or one-to-one on student devices (Chromebooks, tablets, phones — the tab strip flags which activities are best on desktop vs. mobile).

Student progress is saved locally in each browser (no accounts needed) so individual students can pick up where they left off.

Pricing

Every module is available individually, or as a full unit bundle, from the TpT store or the TES store. Schools can contact for multi-teacher licences.
